Beyond the Binary: LGBTGEQIAP+ Counseling

”Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” Oscar Wilde

All Affirming Flags Welcomed

“Coming out is a process, not an event. Do it whenever you feel comfortable and safe.”   Tom Hanks

Welcome to the LGBTGEQIAP+ community, where allies are also embraced with open arms. It’s surprising how little the community’s history is discussed, and as a history enthusiast, I appreciate the significant milestones that have been made. It’s been a journey, not all rainbows and unicorns. The reality of terrorist attacks targeting our queer spaces can scare you into not wanting to take your pride-affirming flag out of the closet.

Embracing and celebrating one’s true identity is a liberating experience. Wherever you are on the continuum of sexual orientation or gender identity, your journey will be supported and celebrated. All flags are welcomed.

As a commitment to Affirming Therapy, transparency, and clarity, TexasCounselor.Net does not and will never incorporate Conversion Therapy or Reparative therapy into its practice.

Sexual Identity

“Love is love. Sexuality is a spectrum. Be yourself.”   Laverne Cox

Sexual identity involves understanding and embracing your own feelings and attractions, encompassing how you emotionally connect, romantically feel, and sexually desire. This personal aspect of who you are is unique to each individual.

Therapy can provide powerful support in exploring and accepting your sexual identity. It can be a helpful tool on your journey of self-discovery. Through counseling, you’ll engage in reflective exercises and conversations to unravel the complexities of your sexual identity, celebrating its uniqueness. Ultimately, your sexual identity becomes your own masterpiece. But it’s not just about self-discovery; it’s about empowerment.

Yes, there may be challenges from society, but you are strong and capable. Therapy equips you with resilience and coping strategies to navigate these challenges. Discovering the perfect blend of traits that embody your true self can be a journey, and while therapy can be a valuable guide, you are the one leading the way.

If you’re struggling, remember, you are bold, beautiful, and deserve to live your truth. If you ever doubt that, reach out—I’m here to listen to your story as you create it. Contact me when you are ready to begin. I can be reached at InfiniftePsychology101@gmail.com

Gender Identity

“We are all born naked and the rest is drag.”   RuPaul

Let’s be perfectly clear: the DSM-5 does not pathologize gender identity. In a world full of negative societal attitudes and behaviors towards transgender individuals, counseling can serve as an empowering mirror that reflects your true self and helps you embrace your authenticity in the face of adversity.

When you step into therapy, you’re entering a safe space—a place where you can freely express yourself, share your struggles, and feel fully understood. In my role, think of me as your personal cheerleader, confidant, and guide on this incredible journey of self-discovery. I’m here to listen, support, and help you navigate the rocky waters of negative societal attitudes.

Therapy can provide you with a toolbox of coping strategies, confidence boosters, and resilience builders. Together with your counselor, you’ll develop the skills to brush off those disrespectful stares and hateful comments. You’ll learn how to reclaim your power and respond to ignorance with grace and poise. Because your worth is not defined by the opinions of others. You are a fierce, fabulous individual, and counseling will help you tap into that unapologetic confidence. Give me a call if you need support.

Navigating Teen Identity Conversations

“There’s a whole world out there waiting for you. Embrace it. Explore it. Belong to it.”   Laverne Cox

Parenting is anything but easy. Loving your child is easy, but teens have a gift for challenging us. When your child opens up about their sexual or gender identity, it’s normal for worries and questions to flood in, even if you’re an LGBTGEQIAP+ parent. No matter how prepared we think we are, the identity conversation can catch us off guard.

So, what do you do with these emotions? How do you handle the doubts creeping in? Maybe you’ve never had experience with LGBTGEQIAP+  adults, or you’re uncomfortable discussing your feelings on the topic with family and friends, yet

It’s okay if acceptance takes time. New anxieties might arise, or you might grapple with religious or cultural teachings for the first time. Remember, your child is still the same beautiful person they’ve always been. Their coming out is a sign of their love and trust in you.

You might need support, guidance, and information. Even if you felt confident in your parenting, your child’s disclosure might leave you feeling like you need to adjust your approach. New challenges are ahead, and it’s okay to ask for help.

When your child comes out, they’re asking for your love and acceptance. If you’re not quite ready for that role and simply need some time to process your thoughts and emotions, therapy can be a good place to start. This journey is about strengthening your relationship with your child, both today and tomorrow.

Let’s work together to make Texas a place of love and acceptance. Every coming-out journey is unique, and I’m here to support yours. I’m looking forward to meeting you and being a part of your new journey. Send an email to get started, at InfiniftePsychology101@gmail.com
